Azerbaijan’s Agriculture Ministry is preparing proposals for amendments to the “Law on Apiculture” in order to increase the number of local honeybees, Vugar Huseynov, deputy head of the ministry’s Information Department, told Trend Oct. 19.
Members of the Azerbaijan Beekeepers Association, who met with Agriculture Minister Inam Karimov, put forward more than ten proposals that may support the development of beekeeping, Huseynov noted.
Specialists suggested organizing the production of boxes, beehives, containers in Azerbaijan, arranging the supply of medicines for bees, creating a special laboratory for beekeeping, organizing work to combat bee diseases and conducting trainings for beekeepers.
Beekeepers suggested creation of special conditions for vehicles during transportation of beehives, so that the vehicles would get special identification marks to ensure safety of the transportation.
